What is Skin Tumor?
Skin tumors are the uncontrolled or abnormal growth of skin cells. They can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous) and sometimes causing pain. Unlike cyst which begins in the lower layer of the skin, skin tumors begin in all the three layers i.e., hypodermis, dermis, and epidermis and are mostly benign and does not spread to other parts.
They are of 4 types depending on where it develops- squamous cell tumor, basal cell tumor, melanocytes and sweat gland tumors. keratinocytes and melanocytes.
Skin Tumor Surgery

Treatment of Skin Tumor
Mohs Surgery
This method is the most effective treatment method for skin cancer. Thin skin layers are removed during this procedure. Each small layer is carefully examined for indications of malignancy. The process continues until there are no more indications of malignancy.
Wide Excision
If the tumour is benign, an excisional biopsy is all that is needed. In this surgical procedure, the entire tumour is removed and sent to the lab for further examination.
Cryosurgery
The cryosurgery technique uses ultrasound guidance to completely destroy benign tumours using a tool called a cryoprobe. The doctor applies liquid nitrogen by inserting a probe through a small cut in the skin near the tumor to freeze the tissue. This in-office treatment might just take a few minutes to complete. The body gradually dissolves the dead cells after the tumor is eliminated, preserving the normal appearance of the skin.
