What is Breast Surgery?

Types of Breast Surgery

Procedure for Breast Surgery

1. Anaesthesia: General anaesthesia is given to the patient to make the procedure painless.
2. Incision: The location of the incision depends on the position of cancer or lymph nodes for medical surgery, and for cosmetic surgery, it depends upon the size of the breast the patient wants and also your surgeon’s recommendation. The incision might be along your areola, in the fold under your breast, around your nipples, or in your armpit.
3. Removal or reconstruction: Extra tissue, skin, or fat is removed or implanted as per the surgery's demands, either under the pectoral muscle or directly behind the breast tissue. Your surgeon will come up with the best options to figure out and treat your issue.
4. Close the incisions: Surgical tape or a skin adhesive is used to close the skin after layering sutures are placed in the tissue to close the wound. The incision line scar will ultimately fade.
5. Monitor the results: The results of the surgery will be visible the very next day, and your doctor will also monitor the complications (if any) for a few days.
